Jr. / Sr. High School

Beddow Jr. / Sr. High School is a private, co-ed, non-sectarian school for students from grades seven through twelve. The school is located in Accokeek, Maryland on a 7-acre site. Beddow Jr./ Sr. High School meets county and state requirements for a private school and holds a Certificate of Approval from the Maryland State Board of Education.

Our skilled, qualified faculty allows us to offer a broad array of courses to meet the needs of our student body.

COURSE OF STUDY

The academic program for grades seven through twelve includes English literature, AP English Literature and Composition, drama, journalism, and creative writing; pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus; early American history, United States government, AP United States history, world geography and the study of early civilizations; general science, earth science, environmental health, biology, AP biology, chemistry, and physics; foreign language (Spanish, French, and Latin). Students will develop the ability to organize and prioritize assignments and undertake research projects. They are expected to dedicate at least one half hour per subject, per day, to study at home. Independent reading is encouraged. Students also participate in physical education, fundraising for class activities, and community service projects. Class trips (domestic and abroad) and academic competitions provide an opportunity for exploration beyond the confines of the school. Class hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

TUITION

The annual tuition includes textbooks and some materials. A non-refundable deposit of one-fourth of the annual tuition is due by the enrollment deadline or upon execution of the enrollment agreement. The balance is to be paid in 3 installments, August 1, November 1, and February 1. To view tuition fees, click here.

ADMISSION

Admission is on the basis of application, interview, entrance exam, receipt of transcript, and two letters of recommendation. A portfolio or writing sample must be submitted. A non-refundable fee in the amount of $50 must accompany the application. When classes are full, applicants are placed on a waiting list. Beddow Jr. / Sr. High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or national origin.

Applicants will be scheduled for their interview after they have taken the required entrance exam and all necessary forms have been received.
